Human After All Song and Video

Human After All was released on October 31, 2005 as a single. It’s the title track from French band Daft Punk’s third album. It was the third single released from the album and it features a killer beat. The musicianship is terrific as it always is with Daft Punk and the song was reasonably successful on the electronic charts. The general concept of the album that Human After All leads off was to find where human feelings reside in music. They want to get back to the core of music and to that end they decided that an incredibly fast production time was the way to go.

That’s why Human After All the album was produced in only six weeks. They wanted something raw and improvised. It was a major departure from previous albums that had taken an exceptionally long time for the band to produce. The result was a mixed bag. Many critics felt that despite the album and song’s title that they missed out on including any emotion or humanity in their songs, thereby defeating their own purpose. Perhaps they didn’t give themselves enough time to truly explore their intentions.

Human After All was supposed to have a video but they never got around to making one. Instead, they ended up making a feature length film called Daft Punk’s Electroma. The movie is about two robots on a quest to become human. After directing the videos for their album the band just kept on working and this movie was born of it. Instead of doing another music video they decided to go full out and embrace what their inner artist was saying. The result is a beautiful movie that will delight Daft Punk fans and anyone that loves robots too. It’s much better than a simple music video would have been, that’s for sure.
